One-way vs Two-way communication

Explain the differences between one-way and two-way communication and why two-way communication is important for the new communications network.

There are two basic ways to communicate amongst a person or a group of people. One-way communication involves sharing information and not expecting a response. This can include receiving an email to read but you are not able to reply to the sender. Two-way communication involves sharing information back and forth between the sender and the receiver. An example would be a teacher and a class of students engaged in an open discussion where both parties can relay information and ask necessary questions. Two-way communication is important because it gives everyone involved an opportunity to participate in the exchange of information. All parties involved can leave with certain knowledge since they are able to inquire about additional facts.
