What was Edward R. Murrow’s style of journalism and what impact did it have on the field of journalism?

In the film Good Luck and Good Night, Edward Murrow was portrayed as a television journalist who was not afraid to break boundaries when it came to reporting true stories of accusations involving a well known senator.  He and his crew of journalists and reporters were eager to inform the public of wrongdoings that were occurring by government officials.  He impacted news reporters today by encouraging his followers to promote fairness of constitutional rights even if it meant to publicly criticize the government.  There are a handful of reporters today who mirror his tenacity of not being afraid to protect the citizens.
