Impact of the Radio

What impact did radio have on society?
The popularity of the radio in the early 1900s resulted in a major cultural shift.  The radio was not only used for entertainment purposes, but also for the reporting of events that were occurring all over the world.  Unlike newspapers, where the news of incidences was learned the next morning or several days later, the radio brought information to households quickly.  The radio also provided hours of entertainment to households every week with the many family shows that were broadcast. The radio also became famous for disc jockeys who not only played music recordings, but also broadcasted news events and reported the weather.
