Social Impact on TV

What was the social impact of TV?
In the 1950s when television shows were becoming more popular than radio broadcasting, the world was able to visual the realities of American life.  The public was able to identity with families they saw on television.  The social impact of TV also led to a greater censorship than any other media outlet.  News broadcasting on television was also a dramatic transformation in regards to how information was received and processed.  News coverage of major events was not delivered as quickly because the reporters were required to transport their cameras and film back to the studios for processing before they were able to be viewed.  With the recent advancement of modern technology, television has passed print and radio media in popularity and usage.
